See you next year!

Monday, December 23rd, 2002 | General | No Comments

Happy holidays, all. I probably won’t be around computers much between now and Jan. 2, so I doubt I’ll get much of a chance to update this thing. Enjoy your holidays. I hope Santa brings you all kinds of goodies (this would be especially cool if you don’t celebrate Christmas and you get stuff from Santa anyhow). Oh, and be good to yourselves on New Year’s Eve. I’ll be back on the 2nd.

Woo hoo!

Santa or No Santa?

Friday, December 20th, 2002 | General | No Comments

The folks over at The Morning News have put it to their Non Expert’s Desk to decide. I particularly like “Two True Stories” and “On the Nature of Clause.”

And what kind of drugs is your staff on?

I’ve never really been a fan of little Japanese toys like Sanrio or San-X stuff, but I think I’m going to have to start. That San-X stuff is a little bit messed up. Who wouldn’t love Beer Fairy toys, especially Chibi Beer Chan (scroll down a bit)? And for the die-hard Wisconsinites in the bunch, The Cheese Family! Other goodies: Ninja cats (including a Ninja ManekiNeko near the bottom of the page. If you thought they brought luck before, try the Ninja version), Tissue San (just in time for cold and flu season), and a bizarre little tomato bird. More items in their line here.

What a shock. It’s in Texas

Some folks are seeing Jesus in a No Parking sign. Figures. That’s probably the 11th Commandment: “Thou shalt not park here.”

Aww. Too late for this year

Had I seen this yesterday (and thus before the shipping deadline), I know what you’d all be getting for Christmas. Who doesn’t want a dog or a cat in a shell? Especially the head-only ones? They’re extra creepy!

I leave you for the day with this

I normally don’t post Onion links, but their infographic for The Two Towers is just too good.

Little bits and pieces

Wednesday, December 18th, 2002 | General | No Comments

Not much time to blog today. Only at work until noon and then the rest of my day gets kind of hectic (but in a good way). My teammates and I are off to lunch and to see an afternoon showing of The Two Towers. Then I have to haul ass home and change for a Christmas party for the radio station Jon works at. All in all, a good day.

Not many links for you all today, either. The usual sources weren’t yielding anything much. So, to appease you, I offer up our studio’s Resolution Generator. You’ll need Flash to run it. (Fun little bonus — the snowflakes will follow your mouse. Ooh. Ahh.)

Show of hands, please

Anyone else ready for Christmas to be over already? Ugh.

Mind you, I’ll still take the vacation time…

And it’s got squirrels in it

There’s a pretty funny Holiday Survival Guide for Slackers in today’s Morning News, courtesy of Defective Yeti’s Matthew Baldwin. (Huh. Guess if I would have read his blog first, I’d have known that already. The slacker in me just took the long way there.)

Everybody say ‘hi’

Tuesday, December 17th, 2002 | General | No Comments

Huh. Looks like my blog’s been linked to by someone new. Everybody say hi to The Johnny Bacardi Show. **cheery waves**

Seems like a good blog. Looks like we’ve got a lot in common. (Though he’s a Falcons fan. That’s ok. I won’t hold it against him.) I’m adding a link in the sidebar. Make sure you all go visit often.

Bar Signs

Sign language for bars. Very handy. Wonder why I didn’t know these already.

‘Tis the season

Anyone else not nearly close enough to being done with their shopping or holiday cards? Thought so. Take comfort in the knowledge that you’re not alone, fellow procrastinators.

Man, these next few weeks are gonna be busy — holiday parties, shopping, cookie baking, the holidays themselves, The Two Towers opening (which, in my case, equals 1/2 day off of work. Geek field trip!), more holiday parties, more shopping, friends in from out of town (yes, Kims, I’m talking to the two of you), etc. Good thing I’ve got a lot of days off coming up.

Blog’s probably gonna be a little quiet through the rest of the year. It’s not that I don’t love you all, it’s just that I’m a bit overwhelmed right now. I’ll post when I can, but don’t get mad if it’s not terribly exciting.

Google goodies

Thursday, December 12th, 2002 | General | No Comments

New searching fun from Google: lazy searching with Google Viewer, view search results with quotes inGoogle WebQuotes and find just the product you’re looking for in Froogle. They’re in a Beta testing frenzy over there. Fun!

And speaking of Christian things…

Anyone wanna buy an autographed bible?

The vicar who stole Christmas

Thursday, December 12th, 2002 | General | No Comments

Ok, I get that the holiday wasn’t designed around Santa, but a vicar telling children that Santa is dead is just mean. However, I do like the part where he told them the reindeer would burst into flames.

Your own medicine ain’t so tasty, is it?

Awww. Poor little spammer. Getting signed up for all that unwanted mail. My heart just bleeds.

Memo to Fox: No. Bad Fox. Bad.

Oh, come on folks. Three Mad Max films is plenty. Honest. Just let it go. We don’t need a fourth.

What’s the plot of this one going to be? Max joins AARP and lobbies a futuristic Congress for cheaper prescription drugs?

Engrish

Tuesday, December 10th, 2002 | General | No Comments

Yeah, I know the Engrish.com site isn’t new, but it’s been awhile since I’ve been over there. There are some funny new entries in the Recent Discoveries section, in case you’re looking for a chuckle. If that doesn’t do it for you, check out the Daily Douchebag over at Rock and Roll Confidential. It’s fun to make fun of people’s bad band photos. (Yeah, I think I’ve posted that one before, but you need the laugh.)
