Wow. Just… wow.

I’m speechless. Some people take the whole “fan” concept just a wee bit too far, I guess.

So, would she be a “superfan”? (Sorry. Couldn’t resist.)

The 9-11 tribute photos are especially touching. Nice eagle.

What will they think of next? Actually, don’t answer that. After this latest fad, I’m afraid to ask.

You’re goin’ to Hell for laughin’

Found this lovely blog over at Dong Resin’s joint. I haven’t laughed this hard in ages.

I think this entry is my favorite. Make sure you check out the larger view on the “Jihadprints” shirts in the store.

And we say “Bubbler” too.

Look at that lovely little pocket of gold along Lake Michigan’s western coast. None of that “pop” nonsense for us here. No, sir.

(Also — Hello, Menominee County. No internet connection up there?)

The Evil Empire strikes again.

How does Micro$oft suck? Let me count the ways. What are we up to now, about 35,000?

MS employee blogs about getting new G5s. MS employee gets fired.

Hmm. What to contribute.

Our studio is moving to a new home (across the street from the old one. We’re ambitious that way) and we’re putting together a time capsule for it. Tomorrow at 4pm, everyone’s getting together to put their contributions in. (Translation: “There’s beer. Oh, and bring something for this ‘time capsule’ thing, if you remember.”)

I have a vague memory of coming up with something that would have been a fabulous contribution. Sadly, I came up with it about 3:30 this morning, thought “what a brilliant idea” and then promptly rolled over and went back to sleep. Sigh. Typical me. Sleep always wins.

Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight

My favorite upstairs neighbors, Adam and Nicole, moved to Grand Forks, ND this summer. I thought they might get a little bored up there after being in Milwaukee and near Chicago all these years. Silly me. Those Grand Forks folks know how to throw a helluva party. Adam and Nicole will be fine.

I’m proud to say I’d fail miserably at this event. They’re getting rid of the best part. Heathens.

I feel less inspired already!

The first of the 2004 Despair.com Demotivators collection has been released.

I think this one’s my favorite, though this one comes in a close second.

Ooh. Ooh. Want.

The new must-have. (But can they have it in time for Christmas?? Nooooo.)

I still think Spike figures should come in “William the Bloody” and “William the Bloody…Awful Poet” versions, but no one ever asks me.

Bye bye, Marty.

In case any of you Milwaukee ex-pats didn’t hear, Marty Zivko is no longer with us.

And speaking of ex-pats, Kim, I hope the airport opened and you got to come home. And if you didn’t, remember what I said about driving over to Vegas. Nothing to burn in the desert. Airport should be open.

I love this guy.

If only all eBay auctions were this good.

So far, so good.

There’s a little format tweaking to be done (yes, Christyl, I’ll add colors) and I’m workin’ on a way to get old comments back, but otherwise, I’ve joined the ranks of MT users. Woo hoo!!!

Here we go.

Attempting the big switchover tonight or tomorrow. (Right now I’m still working out the whole “getting my stuff from Blogger” bits. Fun!)

Worst case scenario: The blog will be down for the weekend. Best case scenario: You won’t notice anything except yet another new template. (No — no mermaids. Dammit.)

Also: Chris, you’re my hero.

Just popped in the new Grandpaboy disk. Feelin’ all warm and fuzzy inside. Thank you, Paul. It’s just what the doctor ordered, ’specially “Vampires & Failures.”

If I did this when I actually had free time, it wouldn’t be as much fun.

Fair warning: I’m finally getting around to getting Moveable Type up and running. If the blog suddenly disappears for awhile, have no fear. It’ll be back.

Probably.

Thanks zillions in advance, Matt and Chris. I’m sure you’ve both already figured out the stupid question parade is headed your way.

Grrrr.

Dear Jeb Bush. Please fuck off. Let the rest of us know if you’ll need help packing. I’m sure we’re all more than willing to help. Thanks.

p.s. Take your brother with you.

Screw Hallmark. These are greeting cards.

Got this link from Bridget. I think I have a new favorite line of cards.

(Hey, look at that. She sends me something, I post it. I send her something, she posts it. Ah, symbiosis.)

The Good, The Better, and The Stomach Flu.

Tuesday, October 21st, 2003 | General | No Comments

God. Is Tuesday already nearly over? My week is all screwed up. Extended weekends will do that to a person, but this one more so than most.

Spent the better part of the tail end of the weekend utterly falling in love… with the simple, sweet notion of being able to retain any food one might attempt to eat. Sigh. So hungry, yet so afraid of food. Also so unfair — it was 80-some degrees out yesterday, and I spent the majority of the day in my pajamas, curled up under a blanket of some sort. Stupid stomach virus. Ah well. The rest of the weekend was great, at least.

Had hockey on Friday. Ok, so that may not have been so much “great” or even, in fact, “good.” Might be a little closer to “a beating” than anything else, but it was only one game. And our poor, beleaguered goalie did stop 40 shots. It was just the other five he missed that kind of killed things.

Spent Saturday at the movies (Veronica Guerin. Very good. Made me remember looking for her name on the journalists’ memorial in Virginia last time I was there.) and being a good capitalist. (I had to buy all those DVDs. They were calling me and I couldn’t just abandon them to a fate of living in Best Buy, now could I?)

And then there was Sunday — the best part of the weekend. (Well, the best part aside from when it occurred to me that I might actually be coming down with something.) Went down to Chicago to watch some of the Packers game at Christyl’s and then meet up with Linus and his girlfriend Aisling. Visited the Hancock Building observation deck, wandered around Navy Pier a bit, had some extremely yummy tapas for dinner and then a couple of pints before calling it an evening.

For your visual amusement:
Fun with skyscrapers, the face of overtired bloggers, and a look at Linus’ fabulous parka. Oh, sure, it was 60 degrees out, but the parka was just too stylish for words. Especially with the hood up. The women just can’t resist, as Christyl demonstrates.

(Linus and Aisling, I hope I didn’t send either of you back to Dublin with a stomach ailment. I owe you another dinner if I did.)
