A couple days late, but still worth sharing

Thursday, May 4th, 2006 | You Call This News?

I didn’t post anything on Milwaukee’s “Day Without an Immigrant” march, despite the fact that it went right past the building where I work and I stopped what I was doing to watch it go by. I was in the middle of finishing up a site launch and then kinda just didn’t feel like writing about it afterward. Besides, I’d forgotten my camera on that day, so there weren’t going to be any photos. (D’oh!) But I will say that it was a remarkable site, I’m glad I was able to see it and that it was the nicest, most positive display of patriotism I’ve seen in a long, long time in this country. I wish the immigrants the best of luck in this fight. The current Congressional bills are really poorly thought out and are a poor, poor solution to what is a very complex issue.

If you want to read better words about the event, read Steelbuddha’s take on it and for some quality photos of the event, check out BB’s photoset. (Yay for coworkers who actually had cameras with them. I’m waving to you all from the window between BB & the guy in the white shirt in that main photo in her set. I’m just not leaning far enough outside for you to see me.)
