Are they really supposed to use words like “pound”?

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008 | Uncategorized

From the National Weather Service’s site: “…SEVERE WINTER STORM TO POUND SOUTHERN WISCONSIN…”

Pound? Really? Must we be so dramatic? You’re meteorologists, people, not sad local newscasters. Act like you’ve got some dignity.

Update, 4:15pm: Ok. Now they’re saying 14-20″. So maybe “pound” is correct.

How about “punt”?

No, maybe not.

For pound, read “piss off much of”.

Pounding rain. Even pounding sleet. Not sure about the pounding snow.

High of 83 expected here tomorrow :) I’ll be thinking of you.

Sherri — Oddly, I am better with 20″ of snow than I am with 83 and humid. :)

Walking to the pub tonight. Bringing my snowshoes for the walk home.

Honestly, the humidity isn’t so bad. Not enough to crank on the AC to dry the house, at least (AC isn’t for keeping the house cool. It’s for keeping it mildew free.)

The humidity won’t really get going until May. Honest. Really. Swear.

We hardly even have proper snow yet, much less thundersnow. I’m feeling ripped off.

I’m guessing (read “hoping”) this is yet another in the ongoing series of massively overhyped storms. Of course, it’s perfectly possible I’ll wake up tomorrow and find a foot and a half of snow covering everything in site (pray to the snowblower gods) – all I gotta say is, if that’s the case, UWM better cancel its classes…since it caused me a world of annoyance canceling the last one before exams last semester…had to run around for days making up for that.

Quarter after midnight and our top porch step is as exposed as Britney.
