Grandma had her surgery on Monday night. They put a rod in her hip to fix the fracture. Only took them about 1/2 hour to do the surgery. Doc said everything went very smoothly. They had her sitting up the next morning and doing light rehab for the last few days. Tomorrow (Friday) she moves to a rehab facility for about a month to begin her recovery in earnest. I stopped in to see her after work tonight. She’s in good spirits and seems to be healing quite well, which is encouraging. She’s got a lot of work ahead of her, but she’s strong and stubborn, especially where her independence is concerned, so I have faith in her abilities to get up and around well again.

Thanks to everyone for the good wishes for her. I passed them along to her.

I also got home early enough tonight to upload my photos from the weekend. You’ll find them in this set on Flickr.

!! OMG !! Look at all those green hills with actual trees and grass…Reminds me of Germany.

Is Wausau,WI the corporate HQ for the insurance company by the same name that has the neat commercial with a pic of a little train station?

Glad your Grandmother is doing better

I haven’t seen the commercial, but yeah — it’s the same company. The train station’s down near the river on the way into downtown.

Must be something in the air. My G-Ma goes in for surgery the 16th. Same stubborn streak too! Send her my love!

Now come the bean counters. Medicare, bless them, has informed us that they will pay for only 20 days rehab. After that, it’s $128 per day. We’re trying to see if AARP will cover any of that.
As for the tornado, The Spouse was just leaving work downtown when it came a callin’. She had to drive home to the southwest side and got caught in heavy rain and even heavier hail.
I’m amazed you saw the plane. At one point, they thought that a funnel touched down on the east side of the airport. That turned out to be incorrect, but still – what was he trying to do? Fly under it?
