We loves us the Cancers

Tuesday, July 6th, 2004 | Bloggity goodness

Happy 30th to Mr. Linus. Don’t worry, Linus — the 30s are cooler than people let on. (Though I’m still undecided as to whether or not I’m happy to be hitting 35 in 2 weeks & change. Just seems like perhaps I should be either more famous or more successful by that age than I am now. At the very least, I should have some decent furniture. Ah, well.)

And belated b-day greetings to everyone’s favorite Leptard keeper, who celebrated his on Friday.

Aren’t June & July birthdays just the bomb-diggity? When I was little, I thought that everyone got presents semi-annually. Then when I found out other kids had birthdays close to Christmas, I felt kind of bad for them. Tch — how awful would it be to have to go more than 6 months or so without a gift?? Ahh — mercenary, even as a youngster.

Thank you!

Actually the birthday thing occurred to me, too. I spit me of those born on the 25th december. Worms! Worms all!

It’s true, you know. Those poor souls born in the long nights after Samhain are suffering from Lopsided Gifting Syndrome. It’s about time somebody started up a helpline for this sort of thing.

There are 8 July birthdays in my extended family (including my own). We call it “the gift of poverty”.

Heh. That’s kind of how we view September in my family.

(You’re a Leo, aren’t you, Matt? That’s ok — you’re still a July baby so we love you just the same.)

Happy Birthdays all you fellas. I’d wish them to you in person (on your own blogs), but I’m really fucking lazy.

I am a Leo. 7 of the 8 of us are Leos, only Sidney (our lil one) isn’t
